destiny her way

Not a lot of note happened in the Southern Water Tribe.

…Alright, that was kind of a fib. There were festivals, whaling hunts, games and competitions between the warriors, and the amazing displays put on by Master Katara’s waterbending students. Penguin sledding always had shrieks of laughter and joy coming from the dunes, and the tigerseals and polar leopards would be barking or skulking along the shores of the tundra. Activity wasn’t lacking.

It was a lack of excitement.

She’d gone out that day not expecting anything out of the ordinary. Once she’d reached her special cliff, she’d hunkered down, breaking off pieces of seal jerky to share with Naga, who equally reclined with her head on her paws and tilted to keep a watchful eye on the icy plain behind them. Just another lazy day, a day of relaxation and recovery, before they’d all be shipping back to Republic City to resume their ‘lives’ again.

But it was kind of hard to miss some guy in a golden jumpsuit. Korra saw that bright patch of yellow against the stark white, not even having to shield her eyes against the glare of the sun before she jumped to her feet. “Hey! Hey! You there, are you alright??”

Some random person in the snow of the frigid South Pole? It was her duty to help—and if it was some kind of weird trap, well, so be it. She was the Avatar, after all, and this was her home. As hard as it would be to explain just what exactly had led her to bringing home some stray in yellow pajamas, that was nothing to how guilty she’d feel if she didn’t make sure they were alright, whoever they were.
